Recently I read an article on the Business Insiders website titled, “Why You Must Be Constantly Changing In Order To Succeed”. In this article there were many great points to which I can apply to not only an organization but to my life. The article stated, “If you or your organization is not evolving-innovating, growing or reinventing- you are in danger of failing. I completely agree with this statement because we as individuals as time goes on should seek personal growth along with the organizations we work for or own. Growth and change is good for the soul of everybody or everything that can be affected by it.
In the business world there have been many organizations that were unable to make a transformation as the needs of the economy changed. This inability to transform resulted in failure for many organizations over the years. Let us take PanAm and TWA for example who once led the airline industry but there became a point in time where one could not conform to the needed change and ended in bankruptcy.
On the other hand there has been many organizations that have indeed rose to the challenge of change. Look at the Walt Disney Company which began as an animation production company. Today Walt Disney Company is one of the world’s largest media companies. Who has not seen, bought or listened to a Disney branded movie, television show, a radio station and beyond. Disney has constantly reinvented themselves to be successful including owning 33% stake in the video streaming company called Hulu.
Change is not the enemy but there is plenty of good that can come out of doing so. Change comes from within the organization or yourself, but no time is good as the present.
